Eleanor Shevlin

Department: English

I have served as my department’s assessment coordinator since 2008, and for the past three years I have served as the University’s program review coordinator. I have also been involved in various exchanges with other humanities professors in the US and UK about assessment. These experiences have taught me much about the importance of assessment; the need to design plans that yield meaningful, useful data; and the need to make the process not one that burdens faculty but instead one that can assist them in curricular development and arguments about resources. These experiences have also afforded me the skills to assess and hone assessment plans and instruments. For these reasons and more (I will be stepping down as the department’s assessment coordinator at the end of this semester), I would like to serve as the CAS representative on the University Assessment Advisory Committee.
