Megan Heckert

Department: Geography & Planning

As assessment coordinator for Geography and Planning I have both coordinated ongoing assessment activities and worked to establish an assessment plan for a newly developed B.S. program. I’m very interested in questions of how to effectively assess the extent to which our courses and programs are achieving the learning outcomes we desire in a way that balances the needs of students, faculty, administration, and, increasingly, accrediting bodies, while providing meaningful results that can be used to guide change as needed.

Department: Criminal Justice

I have been serving as the Criminal Justice Department Assessment Coordinator since the fall of 2010. Due to my involvement in this role, in the spring 2015 semester I was appointed to serve out the remaining time for one of College of Business and Public Management (CBPM) representatives on the University Assessment Advisory Committee (UAAC). Since that time, I have actively participated in the Committee and I am currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Student Learning Retreat Subcommittee. In addition, during the beginning of the fall 2016 semester, I was appointed to serve as the UAAC representative on the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. I have also been regularly attending the yearly Drexel University Assessment Conferences to learn different ways that assessment can be performed so that I could share this information with the West Chester University community and enhance our Departmental practices. I would like to continue representing CPMC in this capacity and I thank you in advance for your support.

Department: Nutrition

This summer I will become the Assessment Coordinator for the Department of Nutrition. I would like to extend my role in this area by being a part of the University Assessment Advisement Committee. In my previous position at Long Island University, I was a member of the Assessment Committee for 10 years and I am familiar with Middle States Commission on Higher Education standards. I look forward to serving on this committee at West Chester University.
