Jean-Christophe DobrzelewskiDepartment: Applied Music As an Associate Professor of Music who has recently undergone the tenure and promotion process, I feel confident that my insights would be valuable to the TeP committee, and I would look forward to representing the College of Visual and Performing Arts faculty in this way. I have done extensive grant writing for many types of artistic and multi-disciplinary projects that have placed me in collaborative situations with faculty from many different departments at West Chester University. This experience has given me a well-rounded view of scholarship both within the arts and throughout the many disciplines of the University. My experience as a performing musician, scholar, and pedagogue allows me to appreciate, assess, and explain the many forms of scholarship and creative excellence demonstrated within the Tenure and Promotion files of CVPA and other University faculty. My background and credentials inform a broad understanding of research, pedagogy, and service; I would like to put my experience and skill to work in further serving WCU. I view the University as the catalyst for creative and academic thought, enhancing the lives of our students, our community, and the greater world. It is for these reasons that I would like to ask for your vote for the College of Visual and Performing Arts Faculty Representative on the Tenure and Promotion Committee. Mark RimpleDepartment: Music Theory, History and Composition I am asking for your vote for the College of Visual and Performing Arts representative on the Tenure and Promotion Committee. The evaluation of a musician, dancer, actor, or other creative artist can seem daunting to faculty members whose scholarship is more traditionally organized. As an active performer, composer, and music scholar, I can lend my expertise and experience to the process in a way that prizes the qualitative side of creativity. I have collaborated musically with theater directors, visual artists and dancers at various times in my career and feel that my broad experience will benefit the entire CVPA. As Vice President and active participant in local APSCUF, I believe that it is important to closely follow our local agreements on tenure and promotion as well as the Collective Bargaining Agreement. I plan to remain involved with the union as a local delegate to APSCUF during my TeP service to keep informed of faculty issues that may affect the road to tenure and promotion.
