Department: Communicative Disorders

After sustained reflection on the role of the TEP Committee within this institution, I have decided to stand for election to this committee and to invite your support for my nomination. I believe that this committee can influence the climate and the future directions of this institution in a variety of positive ways: (a) the promotion of evaluation standards that reflect the expectation of a substantial quantity and quality of professional contributions as the basis for the award of tenure and/or promotion, (b) the appreciation for the individual patterns of accomplishment which represent the diversity of disciplines and professional roles that our campus includes, (c) the careful criteria-based review of the portfolios for the applicants for tenure and/or promotion to ensure that the criteria are consistently and appropriately applied and that the professional contributions of faculty members are appropriately rewarded, (d) the provision of constructive feedback to applicants to enhance their continued professional development, and (e) the input into revisions in evaluation standards to ensure that a positive balance between the "teacher" and "scholar" components of our Teacher-Scholar Model continues and that this Model serves as a productive framework for the conceptualization of an academic career. If you share my ideals, then please know that I would appreciate your vote very much. If you would find additional details about my experience to be helpful, then I invite you to review my professional summary at http://www.wcupa.edu/_academics/healthsciences/commdisorder/cherylgunter.htm. Thank you very much for your consideration.
