Department: Literacy As chair of my department's evaluation committee, I have had experience in the evaluation process at WCU. For me, the teacher scholar model can be likened to the weaving of a fine cloth. Teaching, scholarship and service are the individual threads which are woven together to create such a cloth. In order to make fair and just decisions about faculty accomplishments, we must recognize that excellent teaching comes in many forms. We must also embrace a broad definition of scholarly work. And we must remember that service to the university, community and profession has great value. I respect the fine work being done by my colleagues across the campus at WCU, and I look forward to supporting faculty by serving on the Tenure and Promotion Committee.
