Lauri Hyers

Department: Psychology

When faculty go before TeP, they are facing one of the most significant tests of their career. I will never forget the anxiety I felt the first time I went before TeP more than ten years ago, as if I was going to meet the great Oz. In the fifteen years since that fateful day, I have tried to assure my colleagues that WCU’s tenure and promotion process is fair and transparent. Early in my career here at WCU, I began work with a dedicated group of colleagues to found WCU’s Faculty Mentoring Program, to promote an inclusive culture of mentoring on our campus. I have served on other university-wide committees dedicated to faculty development, including CELT and SaLe, and currently serve on the Tenure and Promotion Committee of my home department (Psychology). My research, teaching, and service experiences at WCU have involved both undergraduate and graduate programs and interdisciplinary as well as international collaborations. As Tenure and Promotion Committee College of the Sciences and Mathematics Representative, I would be dedicated to ensuring a fair and supportive tenure and promotion process for all faculty.
