Rules for the Election

    • Please note: These rules have been updated to comply with the recent agreement between APSCUF and University Management.
    • According to agreement between APSCUF and University Management, there can be only one representative from any school within a college. For this reason, nominees for this election cannot be from the School of Music since there is ongoing representation on the committee from that school.
    • Faculty that wish to serve on TeP must be available Friday mornings from 8 am--10 am for meetings.
    • Each Department and each School within a College can have at most one representative on the university wide Tenure and Promotion Committee.
    • Membership on the committee is restricted to the following structure: 2 faculty representatives from each of the five academic Colleges and 1 faculty representative from the non-classroom faculty.
    • The election is decided by a majority of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rules or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.

Ola Kopacz

Department: Communication Studies

Colleagues, I am asking for your support for my first term on TeP. I have recently gone through the tenure and promotion process. Over the years, thanks to consistent input from my department, my mentors, and TeP workshops, I’ve developed a strong understanding of what is required of an outstanding teacher-scholar at WCU, and what constitutes strong teaching, scholarship, and service. As an international faculty member, I bring strong commitment to cultural diversity. I am also passionate about technology and innovation in the classroom. Please support my candidacy - thank you!

Victoria Tischio

Department: English

I am running for a second term on TeP. There are few committees on campus that touch the lives of faculty as much as the work this committee does. During the last 18 years at WCU, I have served in many important roles that inform my work on this committee. I've served on numerous evaluation committees, as a department chair, as a member of PTW (formerly EPT), and as a new faculty mentor. Additionally, I've worked closely with faculty from across campus in my roles as Learning Community Faculty Coordinator and Interim Associate Dean for CAS. I bring all these experiences to bear on my work on TeP. I have enormous respect for the work we all do and feel honored to have served on TeP. I would like to continue this good work with a second term.
