Rules for the Election

    • Please note: These rules have been updated to comply with the recent agreement between APSCUF and University Management.
    • This election is for two seats with different terms. The candidate with the highest vote count will be elected to the Tenure and Promotion Committee with a 2-year term ending Spring 2018. The candidate with the next highest vote count will be elected for a 1-year term ending Spring 2017 provided they are from a different School and/or Department as the candidate seated for the 2-year term. If the candidate with the next highest vote count is disqualified because they belong to the same School or Department as the person seated for the 2-year term, the candidate with the third highest vote count will be seated for the 1-year term if they are qualified. This process will continue until the seat is filled. A majority of ballots cast is still required, but the majority will be based on completed ballots. In the event a majority is not reached for one or both seats, a run-off ballot will be held with all nominees not already seated and still able to fill any remaining seats.
    • Faculty that wish to serve on TeP must be available Friday mornings from 8 am--10 am for meetings.
    • Each Department and each School within a College can have at most one representative on the university wide Tenure and Promotion Committee.
    • Membership on the committee is restricted to the following structure: 2 faculty representatives from each of the five academic Colleges and 1 faculty representative from the non-classroom faculty.
    • The election is decided by a majority of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rules or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.
