Rules for the Election

    • Nominees must be employed in positions which include responsibilities in the field of teacher education, must be exercising such responsibilities during their term as council members, and, upon election, must provide the Dean of the School of Education with written verification of their responsibilities in teacher education.
    • The Teacher Education Council has 4 Representatives of Certificate Programs: one from the School of Health; one from the School of Music; one from the departments of Astronomy/Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics; and one from the departments of English, Foreign Languages, Anthropology, History, Government and Planning, Psychology, Sociology, Speech Communications, or Theatre.
    • Representatives will be elected by the school or college they represent. In particular, all College of Arts and Sciences faculty will be eligible to vote in both elections for representatives from departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.
    • This election is decided by plurality except as noted below.
    • If the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.

Jane Pippart-Brown


Department: Music Education

I have served as the school of music representative on TEC for the past two terms. I also served on CAPC for twelve years. As chairperson for the department of music education, I believe that I bring a long standing committment to the council and an understanding of the issues and policies that are and integral part of the council's work. I have served as a coordinator of student teachers, and have been active in PDE, NCATE and Middle States evaluations at WCU and in public schools.
