Andrea Varricchio

Department: Foreign Languages

I have been involved with teacher training in the Department of Foreign Languages since 1987. One of the courses that I regularly teach is a requirement for certification in Spanish. In the past, I have supervised a student teacher and served on the Teacher Education Council in 1998 as a proxy. In addition, I am certified to teach Spanish in PA and have ten years teaching experience at the high school and junior high levels.

More recently, I was a recipient of two mini-grants from Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology. I also conduct exit interviews with Level 5 Spanish students at Penncrest High School in the Rose Tree Media School District. Through service-learning projects and CAS Student Research awards, my students have had the opportunity to observe and teach in the elementary school classroom.

I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the Teacher Education Council.
