Clayton GarthwaitDepartment: Library Dear Colleagues- Thanks for reading this! I am interested in serving as your chairperson because I want to help. If elected I would focus on 2 things. I would make it my primary goal to ensure our new faculty successfully complete the process of tenure and promotion. Our people are our most valuable resource and we have a great group right now. I would also strive to ensure communication keeps improving. Everyone gets a voice. WE have a voice. If you have a concern, I will advocate for you with library administration and other officials. If you have a suggestion, it will get heard. My remaining efforts would be focused on striving for all library faculty to have the support they need to complete their vision, scholarship and initiatives. I also support a healthy work/life balance. I have served on almost all standing library committees in addition to many of the large university committees. I know the contract and bylaws well. It is my hope that with the invaluable support of our past chairperson(s), the counsel of the evaluation committee, and my university connections from over 15 years at WCU, I would make a good candidate for this position. Thank you very much for considering me and this opportunity to serve. Danielle SkaggsDepartment: Library Over the past few years, I’ve played a very active role in both our mentoring and evaluation committees. I’ve also found the work I’ve done in updating our bylaws and clarifying our scholarship expectations to be very satisfying, and I’d like to contribute more. While I’d be new to being chair, I have other leadership experience through chairing departmental committees and in ACRL. Thanks for your consideration!
