Department: Nutrition

The hallmark of a well rounded student, regardless of academic focus, is the ability to plan, conduct, interpret, and integrate research. I would posit that with proper counseling and mentoring, an undergraduate student can not only build a solid foundation of research skills but develop an appreciation for sound methodology. In nearly a decade of teaching, seven years of biomedical lab research, and over twenty years of research in diabetes prevention and management, I have had the opportunity to see how excited students can be as they make research part of their skill set. It is in that spirit and with a history of success with students that I seek this opportunity as the College of Health Sciences faculty member of the West Chester Council for Undergraduate Research.

As director of the undergraduate program in Public Health, Health Promotion, I would like to increase student engagement in health research.
