Alison M Gardiner-Shires


Department: Sports Medicine

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Sports Medicine. During my three years at WCU I have taught in the undergraduate athletic training education program and provided medical coverage to the WCU field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams as their certified athletic trainer. In my first year at WCU I obtained an extramural grant which annually supports the athletic training education program budget. My research interests are in the area of professional development, examining the career socialization processes of athletic trainers in the high school and professional baseball settings
