Department: Geography and Planning

Colleagues, I would appreciate your support as I seek a second term on the Budget Review Committee. The BRC serves an important role in educating, and providing transparency and accountability to the University community regarding budget processes and priorities. I would like to continue my work to help educate Chairs and all faculty on the budgeting process and further explore ways to connect the work of the BRC to its broad constituencies. Thank you for your consideration!

Marci Major

Department: Music Education

I serve as Chair for the Music Education Department. While attending Council of Chairs meetings, I learned of the BRC and thought it would be a great committee to join to become part of how vision and values come together with the realities of finance. When I learned of an opening, I decided to run for the position. In general, I’m interested in learning about and participating in WCU's processes on a larger scale, especially in regards to budgeting. I think I would offer a unique perspective to the committee from the School of Music, and would also have an open mind about broad view needs for students at the university. I’m excited to see how financial pieces come together to offer our students the most quality experience during their time at WCU. Thanks for your consideration.

Department: Athletics

Although I am a new chair, I know that I am able to represent the group and take on the responsibility of understanding the vast budgetary needs and challenges of the entire university community. I have been at West Chester for close to 11 years as a member of the Department of Athletics. As one of three faculty in our department, I am the Associate Director of Athletics and hold the rank of Associate Professor. My general responsibility lies with athletic compliance (including fiscal), academics and student services. In my time here, I have worked closely with our coaches and staff in determining base budgets and I have assisted in developing the budget requests for our department. We have been successful in acquiring new personnel and scholarship dollars. I am also responsible for completing our annual financial reports, which include the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act and the NCAA Financial Report, which takes into account all revenues and expenses for the fiscal year. What I feel that I can bring to this opportunity, however, is my ability to listen and take into account the needs of other departments and divisions on campus in order to assist in the development what would be best for our students and university as a whole.
