Maxine GesualdiDepartment: Communication Studies I would welcome an opportunity to serve on the Faculty Mentoring Committee. I have been a mentee in the program this past year and want to pay my experience forward by being a member on a committee that supports new faculty. I bring 15 years of corporate mentoring experience to my academic career, including helping to design new mentoring programs at Acme Markets. I also represented Acme’s parent company, Albertsons, at a regional mentoring symposium at Gwynedd-Mercy University. In my previous roles, I mentored new employees and was mentored by senior staff. I believe that creating a mentoring culture will help the University nurture the talents and abilities of our faculty. Serving on this committee would allow me to bring my previous experience with mentoring programs to the University to help our mentoring program grow and flourish. Rachel JosephDepartment: NURSING I believe that I would excel as a Faculty Mentoring Committee Member due to my experience of being mentored through the first four years by outstanding mentors. I would like to give it back to the new faculty who comes to WCU. As a result of being mentored I was able to facilitate opportunities for my students in research and other experiences. As a nurse my ability to listen and support others through their positive and negative experiences and help them make changes makes me a strong candidate for the Faculty Mentoring Committee. My professional accomplishments are congruent with the WCU mission and core values. My own diverse background, participation in CELT, and adventures in study abroad, positions me as a candidate with whom a minority faculty can approach with confidence, and pursue new ventures as they adapt to the WCU community. Janet LaceyDepartment: Nutrition It would be a privilege to serve on the Faculty Mentoring Committee. My experiences as a faculty member here for over 16 years have given me many insights into both the challenges and opportunities colleagues have while navigating the system at all stages of their careers. I would appreciate a chance to support the critical mission of this valuable mentoring program. Vipanchi MishraDepartment: Psychology Dear Colleagues, I would like to request your support to serve as a member on the Faculty Mentoring Committee. In the past year I have been involved with this committee as an appointed member, helping organize events and helping to design assessments and surveys for the faculty mentoring program. I have also been working as the coordinator of the undergraduate peer mentoring program offered by the Psychology department. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve on this committee as an elected member to help provide professional development support to faculty through the mentoring program. Daria NikitinaDepartment: Earth and Space Science I would be privileged to return to serve as a member of Faculty Mentoring Committee. I used to be a mentee during my tenure-track and a mentor in the past. I benefited greatly from both experiences and would like to continue to contribute my services and enthusiasm to the new faculty on this campus. Merry PerryDepartment: English I am positive and enthusiastic! I enjoy organizing events and motivating people! I would love to serve as a member of the Faculty Mentoring Committee and am asking for your support. I have mentored faculty and students both informally and formally over my 15 years at WCU, including helping graduate students to prepare and be successful at academic conferences, serving on the English department’s Junior Faculty Mentoring Committee, and being a mentor in the WCU Faculty Mentoring Program for the past year. I would like to take my participation in the Faculty Mentoring Program to the next level and bring my experience and enthusiasm to the Faculty Mentoring Committee. Thank you. Christine WilliamsDepartment: Health I welcome the opportunity to serve on the FMC. I have been involved with the program for the last 2 years as a mentor, and I have loved the experience! I believe it's a great and necessary program to help new faculty acclimate to the university, be successful in their career at WCU and to create great relationships and collaborations. To serve as an integral part of the committee would be an excellent opportunity to promote new ideas and to continue growing the Faculty Mentoring Program.
