The person who holds the office of Associate Provost plays an important role in the lives of faculty members because in so many ways the office touches on the nitty gritty of our lives here. I'd like to be on the search committee for this person because I have seen both how the office can be misused/ineffectually used and how it can be used to enrich our work. I consider this committee to be of the highest importance. I'm not sure why teaching an Honors class is important to this nomination, but apparently it is: I both have taught Honors classes and have been Director of Honors at WCU.

Catherine Prudhoe

Department: Early Childhood and Special Education

I am interested in serving on the search committee because the Associate Provost position is important to the University community in many ways. I would work with the other members of the committee to find the best possible person to fill the position. I'm not sure why teaching an honors course or being a graduate coordinator is important, but I have not done either of those. I have been an Assistant Chairperson in my department for several years, and thus, have had contact with the Associate Provost's office on many student-related issues.

As Director of the Institute for Women, I report to the Associate Provost, and so I work closely with the person in this post. I would like to be involved in the search process.
