Rules for the Election
Eirini PanagiotidouDepartment: English I am an associate professor at the English department, and I am seeking re-election as a College of Arts and Humanities representative. Serving as senator since 2021, I have been a member of standing and ad-hoc committees. This academic year I am the co-chair of the Faculty Welfare committee. In this role, I have been working with fellow senators to identify ways of promoting a positive working environment and advocating for faculty rights and privileges. As an international faculty member, I am particularly invested in issues related to faculty diversity, including recruitment and retention. Due to my experience, I am familiar with the powerful voice that the Senate gives us to represent our communities. Additionally, my diverse administrative experience that includes directing the Linguistics Minor and serving on CAH committees such as the Poetry Center’s Faculty Advisory Committee have offered me a broad understanding of the College’s interdisciplinary nature, and I look forward to continuing to represent our faculty at the Senate. Roxane Petit-RasselleDepartment: Languages and Cultures My name is Roxane Petit-Rasselle. I am an Associate Professor of French and the Coordinator of the French Program in the Department of Languages and Cultures. I would be honored to be Faculty Senate College of Arts and Humanities Representative. Simon RuchtiDepartment: Philosophy Over the last several years, I have been an active member of Faculty Senate and represented the Senate on a number of important committees. I consider it an honor to voice concerns on behalf of my colleagues and I am not afraid to respectfully challenge major decision-makers from across campus. I would appreciate your support in allowing me to continue to do this work. Esther SmidtDepartment: Languages and Cultures I would love to continue serving in the Faculty Senate as the CAH Representative and would appreciate your support. I was the CAH Representative from 2020-2024. I represented Faculty Senate in the Search Committee for the Associate Provost for Learning and Teaching Innovation in 2022 where we hired Naomie Nyanungo. Dominik WolffDepartment: Languages & Cultures As I am approaching a decade at WCU and having slowly amassed a decent level of experience with service ranging from APSCUF to TeP, I feel ready for and excited about the potential opportunity of serving on the Faculty Senate.
