Gary Childs

Department: University Libraries

I recently became a faculty member at West Chester University (January 2020). I attended the Faculty Senate meeting that occurred on 2/7/2020, which allowed me to learn a great deal about the University, and the important issues we collectively face. The passion voiced by members of the Senate resonated with me, and it was clear how much everyone present wanted to support our community of learners. I would love to have to opportunity to serve as a member of Senate, and apply my research-related skills. Thank you for your consideration.

Kathleen Riley

Department: Literacy

I am running for a second term in the Faculty Senate because I want to continue to represent my colleagues in the shared governance of WCU during this critical time, especially as it relates to campus climate and equity issues. During my time as chair of the President’s Commission on Women, I gained experience working within and beyond a democratic body to advocate for campus change. If elected, I will bring this leadership experience to my service on the Senate, as well as my roles on the YES Program Executive Committee, a founding member of WCU's Community-Immersive Semester for Educators, the Literacy Coordinator of the ADP program. Thank you for considering my candidacy.

Heather Schugar

Department: Literacy

As current Past President and former President of the Faculty Senate, I am committed to the work that the WCU Senate does to promote a positive campus climate and foster diversity and inclusion. In my previous three terms on Senate, I have been an active participant in advocating for the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, counseling support, research initiatives, and other concerns brought to us from the campus community. With your vote, I seek the opportunity to continue my role as a participant in WCU's shared governance model.

I am interested in joining the Faculty Senate and contributing to a positive campus climate in a new way.
