Sami Abdel-Salam

Department: Criminal Justice

I am an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Department who began teaching here in the fall 2014. Since beginning at West Chester University, I have looked for opportunities to serve the campus community and to help improve the overall quality of the institution. I am currently serving as a Faculty Senate Proxy, but would like to become more actively engaged in the Senate and some of the subcommittees. This would be a great opportunity for me, and I welcome the challenge.

Eli DeHope

Department: Undergraduate Social Work

I have had the privilege of participating in the Faculty Senate for the past 12 years. I have served as its President, Secretary and currently as the Vice President. I have had the honor of being part of the Executive Committee for the past nine years and I would like to continue to actively participate in the Faculty Senate. I believe that the Faculty Senate has had a key role in insuring a positive campus climate for faculty and staff. I really like being part of something that advocates for all of us at West Chester. With your vote I can continue this work.

Belinda Haikes

Department: Art + Design

I am interested in serving the university through the senate because I believe of the importance of the work that they do. During the short 3 years that I have been at WCU, I have been impressed with the work that the Faculty Senate does, and would welcome the opportunity to serve the university in this capacity.

I am in my third year of teaching mathematics education courses. In the department, I have worked on new course proposals and completed other service activity on department committees. I hope to continue serving the University by being elected to the senate. I also hope by serving on the senate I learn and get a broader perspective of the university.

Julian Onderdonk

Department: Music Theory, History and Composition

It has been my privilege to serve on the WCU Faculty Senate for 12 years. For nine of those years, I have been a member of the Executive Committee, and was President between 2010 and 2012. Senate is an important body on campus, essential to the University's goal of distributed leadership, and provides a unique forum for the expression of Faculty needs and opinions. Today, we need this forum more than ever. I ask for your vote to help continue the work of ensuring that Faculty voices are heard and our goals met.

Heather Schugar

Department: Literacy

For the past 3 years, I have served as an active member of the Faculty Senate (acting as chair of the Sustainability and Facilities Committee for one of those years). With the forthcoming issues facing faculty, students, and campus climate in the near future, I seek the opportunity to continue my service in advocating for faculty and brainstorming effective ways to address campus concerns.

I highly value the opportunity I have been given to serve on Faculty Senate and would like the opportunity to continue serving in this role. Please consider voting for me as an At-Large Faculty Senate Representative.

James Scythes

Department: History

I served as one of the Temporary Faculty representatives to the Faculty Senate during the 2012-2013 academic year. After being converted to tenure track in 2013, I have served as an Interim Senator during this academic year and am currently a member of the Student Welfare Committee. I have enjoyed working with the members of the Faculty Senate on many important issues and would like the opportunity to continue serving. I would appreciate your vote for me as an At-Large Faculty Senate Representative.

Tina Selvaggi

Department: Literacy

It would be an honor to serve on the Faculty Senate. During my time at WCU, I have served as an advisory member of the Council for Professional Education, a committee member of the New Faculty Orientation Committee, and a selection committee member for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. I have also served my department in several capacitates related to program advisory and student involvement. Having served as a Faculty Senate proxy this year, I realize the impact Faculty Senate has in guiding the vision for our institution and I look forward to making my contribution to the future of WCU. I believe I can bring a valuable perspective and I look forward to the experience of serving on the Faculty Senate.

Paul K. Smith

Department: Kinesiology

Having served on the Faculty Senate for approximately 29 years and held offices of President, EXEC Committee Member, and chair of the Research and Curriculum Committees, I have made a valuable contribution to the Faculty Senate of West Chester University and have a broad perspective of how the University work in relation to the faculty. My strategy is to pick my battles so that I can have a more meaningful effect on the outcome, rather than waste my, and the Faculty Senate's, time and energy on lesser significant issues. We do have some highly significant issues facing us in the near future and must act as a cohesive unit in order to have a meaningful impact.

I appreciate your support in the past and would certainly like to invite you to place your vote for me in this electionl

Rosemary Sullivan

Department: Mathematics

It would be my privilege to be elected as an at-large member to Faculty Senate. I am a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics. In my department I have served on three search committees, the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, Advisory Committee and Elections Committee. I would like to contribute my time and effort to serving the University outside my department. Being part of a forum that promotes the growth and development of faculty and students would be my honor. Thank you for your consideration.
