Rules for the Election
Debra BillDepartment: Health Wei Wei CaiDepartment: Elementary Education Faculty Senate is an important committee addressing issues affecting students and faculty on the campus. I am interested in making a contribution to the university community by serving on the Faculty Senate. Eli DeHopeDepartment: Social Work I have been a senator for the past three years, and this year have served as a recording secretary on the executive committee. I have really enjoyed my time on the senate. The Faculty Senate has truly been a wonderful vehicle for change on this campus. I am an active participant and would like to continue contributing to West Chester University through the Faculty Senate. I hope you will consider voting for me so that I may do so. Lauri Lyn HyersDepartment: Psychology Dr. Hyers joined the Psychology dept. in the fall of 2004. She has previous experience as a faculty senator at another university. Here at West Chester, she is involved in several groups that deal with issues of diversity. As a junior faculty member, she is seeking university service that will facilitate her integration into the university community. LaTonya Thames LeonardDepartment: History I welcome the opportunity to serve on the Faculty Senate because I have each faculty member's best interest at heart. In 1894, former slave and American ambassador to Haiti Frederick Douglass told a group of anti-lynching activists to "do right" and continue their fight for an equitable society where people can feel safe. My service to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Frederick Douglass Institute, Student Residence & Life, etc., reflect that I have accepted and applied Douglass' charge of making a difference by encouraging an equitable environment for students and my colleagues. To "do right" on a larger, campus-wide scale and to represent the interests of both faculty and students, I would appreciate your vote. Jennifer MeansDepartment: Communicative Disorders Karen NolanDepartment: Literacy I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the university by serving on the Faculty Senate as it addresses important issues affecting both students and faculty. My interest in various campus programs will enable me to be an effective at large member of the Senate. Julian OnderdonkDepartment: Music History I am finishing my first term on the faculty senate and have come to see it as an important forum for the airing and sharing of faculty opinion as well as a kind of clearing-house for information about university policy. It is clearly a valuable assignment and I would enjoy serving again. In addition, I look forward to continuing my work on the membership and elections sub-committee, which ensures that senate rolls are kept full and representative of our faculty body. Paul K. SmithDepartment: Kinesiology Dian WilliamsDepartment: Criminal Justice I am nominating Dr. Dian Williams to the Faculty Senate because I believe she will be a strong contributing member to this body. Dr. Williams is a dedicated, energetic faculty member who will add fresh ideas and bring new enthusiasm. I strongly endorse her.
