JORGE ESCORCIA

Department: FOREIGN LANG.

I am very interested in serving the faculty in the Sabbatical and Educational Leave Committee. The Sabbatical and Educational Leaves are an integral and crucial part of the teaching profession. I strongly believe that all applications deserve careful consideration. If elected, I will be accessible to the faculty for information and suggestions. Your vote is sincerely appreciated. Thanks. Jorge Escorcia.

Department: Psychology

The sabbatical committee was formed two years ago as a committee separate from Tenure & Promotion. During that time, the members of the newly formed committee worked hard to develop procedures for fair and thorough review of all applications. The committee has also worked to make all faculty aware of the availability of sabbaticals and encouraged eligible faculty to apply. As a member of that committee, I would like to have the opportunity to continue our efforts. In addition, with threatened budget cuts looming, the committee will need to oppose any efforts to cut sabbatical leaves as a way of making up for lost funds.
