Department: Art + Design

Dear Colleagues, I would be honored to receive your vote to serve as a member of the Sabbatical and Educational Leave Committee for the next election term.

In my 17 years at WCU, I’ve had the pleasure of working and collaborating with individuals from a range of different disciplines through collaborative teaching assignments and service on a variety of committees across campus (Faculty Senate, APSCUF, Sustainability Council, The Poetry Center Faculty Advisory Committee). A side benefit of this work has been discovering the incredibly strong, compelling research of my fellow WCU faculty.

As a practicing artist, I believe I can provide a unique perspective to the SaLE Committee, especially with regards to creative research and scholarship. I understand first-hand the rejuvenating impact sabbaticals have on research, teaching, and quality of life. I hold the tenants of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the center of my teaching and my life, and I would do the same as a member of the SaLE Committee.

Thank you for your consideration.
