Department: English

My first sabbatical (2015) gave me precious time to write and a reenergized sense of my identity as a scholar. I'd be honored to serve on the SaLe Committee and help my colleagues across campus realize the same opportunity. I have extensive experience in evaluating proposals through five years of service on CAPC and four years as an Assistant Chair in my department. I'd also welcome the chance to help SaLe publicize the application process and advocate for the value of sabbaticals. As faculty know well, sabbaticals are no luxury (despite the way they're sometimes perceived by the larger public); rather, they're an essential part of our labor as professors. I would be honored to contribute to the work of this important committee. Thank you for your consideration.
