Carla L. Verderame

Department: English

I would like to serve on the Sabbatical and Educational Leave Committee to help my colleagues pursue their scholarship. I have been awarded two sabbaticals since I joined the WCU faculty in 1998; both of them were productive. My first sabbatical helped me achieve promotion to professor. My second sabbatical gave me time to complete one project on Native literature and to begin reading in a new area of research. I recognize the importance of a sabbatical in our profession. I look forward to reading about my colleagues' projects in their specific areas of research. I have held a number of responsible positions in the department of English and at the university level. I would apply the skills I gained from those experiences to my role on the Sabbatical and Educational Leave Committee. I appreciate your support.
