Proposed Faculty Senate Constitution

Department: Faculty Senate

This referendum is the final step in the process to revise WCU’s Faculty Senate Constitution. The proposed final draft (located at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C9ERBIRJdcgfk1LIgY8nKiKbKEzFFVGX/view?usp=sharing) has been approved by the full Faculty Senate after first receiving approval from members of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee following many months of collaborating on draft revisions. For comparison’s sake, you may access the current Constitution at https://www.wcupa.edu/_FACSTAFF/facultySenate/constitution.aspx and a version with tracked changes at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CD3c88PRAg6KTLInFk9d1gRfiQkttpJI/view?pli=1. The proposed final draft also has been reviewed without objection by leaders in APSCUF and Academic Affairs.

The proposed revisions were made with three primary goals in mind: (1) to clarify the purposes and duties of Faculty Senate and how those are distinct from the purposes and duties of APSCUF, CAPC, and other shared-governance bodies at WCU, (2) to better represent the composition and practices of Faculty Senate as they have been established in recent history, and (3) to update language throughout for accuracy, consistency, and inclusiveness.

All full-time, permanent WCU faculty (i.e., those eligible to run for election to Faculty Senate) may cast a ballot to indicate their approval/disapproval of the proposed final draft of the Faculty Senate Constitution as distributed. Please direct any questions to Julie Wiest, Faculty Senate President, at jwiest@wcupa.edu
