Department: Physics and Engineering

I'm a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Engineering. Over the past years, I have served on and chaired a number of Department, College and University committees on faculty evaluation, student recruitment, student recognition, and diversity and inclusiveness in the community. With my experience, I hope to have the opportunity of serving as a member of the Promotion and Tenure Workshop Committee. As someone who has been through the tenure and promotion process with the OnBase system, I have found PTW workshops to be immensely helpful, and I would love to put my experience to work in assisting other faculty. Thank you for your consideration.

Department: Psychology

Dear colleagues: I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and I have served on Promotion and Tenure Workshop (PTW) Committee for the past 2 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving on this committee and helping colleagues navigate the tenure and promotion process. I presented at New Faculty Orientation in August 2020, I assisted at the PTW 2nd and 3rd Year Panel Discussion in Fall 2020, and I will be assisting with the Tenure and Promotion sessions at the end of the Spring 2021 semester.

I am interested in continuing on serving on the Promotion and Tenure Workshop Committee for several reasons. I received notification about my tenure and promotion in May 2018—therefore, I have relatively recent experience with applying for tenure and promotion and using the OnBase system. I also recognize that the tenure and promotion process is labor-intensive, and I believe strongly in supporting colleagues through what can be a stressful time in their career. I have been an active member in our campus community through bodies such as Faculty Senate and the University Writing Council Advisory Board. I would look forward to the continued opportunity to serve the wider campus community through the PTW Committee. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Department: Biology

I am an associate professor in the Biology Department and would like to serve on the Promotion and Tenure Workshop Committee. I realize just how useful and important the Promotion and Tenure Workshop is to all junior faculty members at WCU. I have direct experience with the On-Base system and have served on, or as chair of, a number of committees while at WCU. Currently, I am the Biology Department’s assessment coordinator and chair the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) concentration as well as the Microbiology concentration. I greatly enjoy working with and assisting new faculty members in both of these concentrations and would welcome the opportunity to work with and assist new colleagues in other departments. If elected, I will work diligently and contribute meaningfully toward the ongoing success of this valuable program. Thank you for your consideration.
