Rules for the Election
Dan BaerDepartment: Sports Medicine I am excited to seek a second term to continue representing the College of Health Sciences on the Faculty Mentoring Committee! I joined the committee in 2023, and have served two terms as Chair of the Assessment Subcommittee. As Assessment Chair, I collaborate with committee members to develop assessment plans and instruments, communicate with subcommittees to distribute surveys, and synthesize the results to evaluate the effectiveness of our programming. I've served as a mentor for the Faculty Mentoring Program each year since 2021, and I've also benefitted from the program as a mentee. I was recently invited to serve on a promotion panel hosted by the Faculty Mentoring Committee, which was a very fun and rewarding experience. I look forward to the opportunity to continue working with a great group of individuals from across the campus to meet faculty mentoring needs. Thank you for your consideration! Nene OkunnaDepartment: Public Health Sciences I am deeply interested in faculty mentoring because I believe in cultivating a sustainable, supportive academic community. Throughout my career, I have seen the benefits of having exceptional mentorship as a junior faculty and the limiting impact when these opportunities are not available. I understand that guidance, constructive feedback, and advocacy are essential for retention and success. I would like the opportunity to serve on the faculty mentorship committee to support my colleagues, particularly junior colleagues, helping them navigate the challenges of research and teaching while building the professional confidence necessary to thrive in academia.
