Department: Nursing

I have been both a mento and mentee since I began at WCU. I have always enjoyed mentoring new faculty as well as facilitating their integration the WCU community. Since 2017, I have been a member of the Faculty Mentoring Committee (FMC) and have served as elected Co-Chair from 2021 through 2023. These responsibilities included pairing new faculty and any faculty member seeking promotion with a mentor volunteer to facilitate collaboration and support during the first year at WCU or during the years prior to promotion application. As Chair of the committee of 11 faculty members, I was responsible as part of the Faculty Mentor Program to develop educational workshops on teaching scholarship and service, which are offered each semester. I also served as Chair of Mentor Training Workshop subcommittee during 2018-2019, assuming responsibilities include planning, coordinating, creating agenda and activities to train new faculty mentors in their roles and responsibilities for end-of-year event (May 2019). I would like to continue to serve as the CHS representative for the Faculty mentoring committee for the upcoming term. I am passionate and knowledgeable about the Faculty Mentoring Program (FMP) mission and hope to continue to promote FMP events and workshops as well as influence changes and growth of the FMP at WCU. Mentoring Matters!
