Rules for the Election

    • 1 seat is for ARTS and HUMANITIES Representative
    • 1 seat is fof Social and Natural Science Representative
    • Each department can have at most one representative on the Evaluation Policy and Training Committee.
    • Membership on the committee is restricted to the following structure: 2 faculty representatives from the College of Arts and Sciences, 1 faculty representative from each of the Schools of Health Sciences, Education, Music, and Business and Public Affairs, and 1 faculty representative from the non-classroom faculty. Of the two representatives from CAS, one must be from the Arts or Humanities and the other from the Natural or Social Sciences. Non-classroom faculty are those faculty in Educational Services, the Library, and Counseling.
    • The election is decided by majority of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rules or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot. If an insufficient number of candidates receive a majority, a run-off election will be held between the top two eligible candidates. If there is only one eligible candidate for such a run-off, an approve/disapprove ballot will be used.
    • Vacant seats will be filled one at a time with the current vacant seat filled by the candidate with the highest vote count. As each seat is filled, the candidate filling that seat and any other candidates from the same department as the candidate filling that seat will be disqualified. Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.

Lisa Millhous


Department: Communication Studies

Since arriving at WCU in 1999 I have been working to provide mentoring and clarify the procedures for evaluation. I was elected last year to serve a 1-year term on EPT and served as co-chair (Fall 2006) and chair (Spring 2007). I feel strongly that there needs to be more information available to faculty about the evaluation process and am committed to making that happen.

Victoria Tischio


Department: English

I am running for a second term on the EPT committee. Over the last academic year I have participated in several open forums regarding the new TeP policies and have helped generate discussion about the QUICs. I would like to continue this work by serving on EPT for another term.
