Department: Music Education and Music Therapy Over the past several years I have mentored students through WCU’s Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI), the Student Undergraduate Research Foundations (SURF) program, and I have supervised undergraduate research assistants on my funded research projects. Supporting and encouraging undergraduate students in their research interests is a meaningful part of my work, especially since many are still discovering that research opportunities are open to them, not only to graduate students. In my first term on the Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR) I saw a notable increase in undergraduate research engagement across WCU and within WSOM. I would welcome the opportunity to continue contributing to this growth by serving a second term on the CUR.

Department: Music Theory, History, and Composition I am happy to volunteer to serve on the Council on Undergraduate Research. I hope to make WCU’s undergraduate research opportunities more visible within the school of music, and to provide flexible and careful oversight as I review student proposals that come before the council.
