Department: Special Education As a second-year faculty member in the Special Education Department with a strong background in research methods and dissemination, I am committed to strengthening undergraduate engagement in meaningful scholarly work. I believe deeply in the mission of the Council on Undergraduate Research and in the transformative impact that participation in research can have on future educators. Supporting undergraduates in research not only helps close the research-to-practice gap in our field but also equips pre-service educators with the critical skills needed to interpret and apply research in both clinical and practical contexts. As a representative for the College of Education and Social Work, I would work to expand opportunities for evidence-based inquiry.

Department: Early and Middle Grades Education As an Associate Professor in the Early and Middle Grades Department, I have had the opportunity to support undergraduate research initiatives through SURI, resulting in a student publication. In addition, I actively foster student development through course-based research collaborations. Through these experiences, I have witnessed firsthand the significant impact that research engagement can have on students’ academic growth and career readiness, including expanded job placement opportunities. I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs staff to further support student research and scholarship. Contributing to strategic planning efforts and participating in research-related committee activities would allow me to help advance meaningful student collaboration and strengthen research opportunities across the institution.
