Department: Psychology

Hello, colleagues! I am eager to serve on the Council for Undergraduate Research and earnestly seek your support. I am an Assistant Professor and clinical scientist who aims to facilitate impactful research experiences for our undergraduate students—particularly those students from groups that have been historically underrepresented in graduate programs that emphasize research.

I direct an active research lab (www.wcupa.edu/raiselab) in which a diverse team of student researchers “learn by doing.” Together, we write grants, design studies, collect data, analyze data, and present data in scholarly outlets including national conferences and peer-reviewed publications. In every step of our work, students learn the importance of working collaboratively, protecting human subjects, and effectively communicating with multiple stakeholders (including community partners).

Over the past three years, I have enjoyed supporting student research by mentoring Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI) scholars, contributing to ORSP’s Course Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) initiative, funding student researchers through my external grants and awards, serving as a judge for our internal research days, and assisting in piloting the university’s new Institutional Review Board electronic submission system. It would be my honor and pleasure to continue to promote and support undergraduate research opportunities through service on the Council. Thank you for your consideration.
