Department: Early and Middle Grade Education

I have been teaching at West Chester University for 25 years and I have enjoyed evolving as a teacher, mentoring students, and working collaboratively with colleagues. For several years I have been the faculty advisor for Kappa Delta Pi (an international honor society with a chapter at WCU). As an advisor, I have encouraged and assisted the students in hosting two professional conferences that have been open to students, faculty, and educators outside of the WCU community. I worked collaboratively to co-write a grant to obtain funding for a graduate elective course on bullying. Throughout my years at WCU I have enjoyed collaboratively on many meaningful projects within my department and the university. I would like the opportunity to become more engaged in CELT's aims for supporting teaching through professional development opportunities and for finding ways to foster collaborations and build the West Chester University community.

Department: Literacy

Hello! I am a second year faculty member in the department of Literacy. One of the (many) things that made me excited to join the faculty at West Chester University was the emphasis placed on high-quality teaching and life-long learning. I love the message the "Learn More" banners placed around campus send to our campus community, and as a reflective practitioner, I consistently strive to "learn more" about learning and teaching in higher education. Since I joined the West Chester University community, I have participated in the Scholarship of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (SOTLA) conference and book club and two book clubs sponsored by the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). I valued the opportunity to learn with and from my colleagues from across the university that participating in the conference and book clubs afforded. I would be honored to become a member of CELT to continue to "learn more" from my colleagues across the campus and to collaborate with them in pursuit of excellence in learning and teaching.
