Department: Nutrition

As an assistant professor in the nutrition department, it would be a great honor to be voted to represent the College of Health Sciences on the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. My scholarly agenda to date has been focused on studying student learning outcomes, best teaching practices, and game-based learning. As such, my scholarly focus nicely aligns with the mission of CELT, to help other educators on WCU's campus to engage their students and to learn the best and most innovative teaching strategies to uphold WCU's standard of excellence across campus. My university service is also largely focused in these areas, including being a member of the mentoring committee, a member of the Scholarship on Teaching and Learning planning committee, and an active participant in the WCU book club, where I have learned many remarkable teaching strategies. I hope to be given the opportunity to serve on this wonderful committee, as I have so enjoyed participating in many CELT-sponsored programs and events throughout my time thus far at WCU. Thank you for your consideration.
