Department: Languages & Cultures

I would like to nominate myself to serve as the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) Representative for the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. As a faculty member teaching American Sign Language and Deaf Studies, my work focuses on student engagement, language acquisition, and inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners. Through my teaching, curriculum development, and collaboration with colleagues, I strive to create meaningful learning experiences that connect language, culture, and community. I am committed to promoting effective and innovative teaching practices and would value the opportunity to contribute to the committee by supporting excellence in teaching and learning within the CAH and across the university.

Department: Communication & Media

I currently serve in an interim one-year role as CELT member, and I would love your support to continue serving. I aim to facilitate a fun, innovative, and engaging learning environment for our students, and I believe CELT is designed fully to support this notion. Offerings such as CELT grants and teaching showcases allow for collaboration and idea sharing across faculty, which further innovate our classrooms and make WCU better for our students.

In the S26 semester, I co-facilitated the TLC book club on Joy-based Pedagogy, and it has over 30 members actively participating online (and in person!). I am also a former participant in the Faculty Learning Community on Pedagogical Innovations, helping start an Emerging Technology Living Learning Community for students which showcases how faculty use technology in teaching and research to first-years. I am excited about the potential for continuing to serve faculty and students through promoting and enhancing our teaching and learning support.
