Lisa KongsbergDepartment: English As the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching CAH Representative, I would work to identify and promote innovative (but proven) curriculum, projects, and research that afford students greater opportunities for academic growth and career advancement across disciplines. After teaching at the college level for over 20 years, I have acquired a critical sense about curricula and pedagogy that work. I have worked on various committees in the English Department over the past several years, including the First Year Writing Committee and the Business and Organizational Writing Committee, in addition to attending a seminar on curriculum development. I would be an eager participant in discussions about institutional changes that may impact the English Department as well as the university, our students, and the surrounding community. Ola KopaczDepartment: Communications Studies Colleagues, I’d like to offer my candidacy as a CAH representative for CELT. I’ve been developing and delivering media curriculum at WCU’s Department of Communication Studies since 2007. During this time, I have also been an internet entrepreneur, consultant, and coach. Being immersed in two worlds (academia and industry) and living on two continents (North America and Europe) - I’ve been watching job market changes and educational trends internationally. I think we as a university need to work diligently to remain relevant to our students’ professional success. We need to deliver instruction that is grounded in best scholarly research but delivers actionable knowledge and demonstrable professional skills. Finally, we need to collaborate with industry leaders in creating more opportunities for our students to apply their learning to the real world. It would be an honor to contribute my vision and effort to the work of CELT. Created and copyrighted by Clifford Johnston, 2000-12 |
