Rules for the Election

    • Faculty wishing to be considered for BOTH an At-Large seat and a college seat must self-nominate in BOTH elections. No more than three faculty from any department may serve on CAPC simultaneously and no more than two faculty from any department may hold College seats. At-Large elections will conclude prior to the College Seat elections. (Effective starting spring 2012).
    • The election is decided by a plurality of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rule or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Vacant seats will be filled one at a time with the current vacant seat filled by the candidate with the highest vote count. As each seat is filled, the candidate filling that seat and any other candidates from the same department as the candidate filling that seat will be disqualified. Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.
    • Members elected to at-large seats cannot be nominated for school representative seats.
    • Seats with longer terms will be filled first. In the case of varying term lengths, faculty receiving the highest vote tallies will receive the seat with the longer term. In the case of an approve/disapprove ballot, candidates will be ranked according to number of approve votes.

Adam Silverman

Department: Music Theory, History and Composition

I am seeking your support to continue to serve on CAPC for the upcoming term, having represented the CVPA for the last two years. My work in CAPC has included serving on the Undergraduate Programs Committee and the Undergraduate Policies Committee. My previous service has included the Pedagogy for Engagement Committee (including serving as chair), campus-wide work in assessment and Distance Education, and much departmental service in curriculum development, including the creation of several new courses for majors and non-majors.

Elizabeth Staruch

Department: Theatre and Dance

My name is Liz Staruch and I am faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance. I currently support CAPC as a member of the Academic Review committee and have co-chaired the Program Review committee for two years. As a member of my department's curriculum committee, we overhauled our curriculum in 2012 to bring our degree program in line with the Board of Governor’s mandate. My close and attentive work on this inspired me to deepen my commitment of service to the university in terms of curricular issues, and my work with Academic Review has only strengthened that resolve. I would be honored to serve again on CAPC and would appreciate your vote.
