Yan Liu

Department: Library

With great enthusiasm to serving the University and campus community, I am hoping to join the Curriculum and Academic Policies Council (CAPC) as a library representative. Although representing non-classroom faculty, I had participated in curriculum development and taught a 3-credit information literacy class in both online and in-person settings before joining WCU. I am willing to commit the amount of time and effort expected to actively contribute to the CAPC effort to better the academic curriculum and policies. My collaborative work attitude, responsiveness, organizational skills, and attention to detail have been fully demonstrated through many of my professional work and collaborations. I joined the library shared governance committee and diligently worked towards assisting library faculty in making informed collective decisions. I served as the Chair of the International Connections Committee at the American Library Association International Relations Roundtable and initiated projects to share best practices and advance the professional values of libraries. I believe personal aspiration is driven by professional ethics and values. With the participation in the CAPC, I am hoping to bring my expertise in information literacy and library services and my experiences in curriculum development to contribute to a wider discussion on academic curriculum and policies and developing quality programs that lead the University through the pathways to student success.
