Jeffrey Harris

Department: Health

Why should you vote for me for a position on CAPC? I present my case below. Considering the fact that I have been a faculty member here at WCU for 24 years, I have developed a deep understanding of the inner workings of this great institution. During my initial years, I developed the Department of Health’s undergraduate nutrition and dietetics program. Over the years I have been involved in initiating strategic and timely changes in the curriculum as the dietetics field has evolved and accreditation standards have changed. Not only am I extremely familiar with the process of curriculum development at the undergraduate level, but the graduate level as well. From 1985-1995, I served on CAPC and was chair of the academic policies committee from 1992-1994. I left CAPC in 1995 because of intensive programmatic responsibilities; however I am now ready to resume involvement in the important work of CAPC. I believe that I have in the past and will continue to contribute optimism, energy, and attention to detail as a CAPC member. I have current familiarity with CAPC as I have served on the writing emphasis subcommittee of CAPC during the current year. It would be an honor to serve on CAPC again. Those faculty members who have gotten to know me over the years will testify to my reliability and commitment to committee work. I look forward to serving as an active committee member.

I have been serving as a CAPC member alternate this year and hope to contribute more fully as a regular member of this committee. Curricular innovations, decisions and policies are integral to my role as a teacher and advisor, and a member of our Nutrition & Dietetic Program's curriculum committee.
