Rules for the Election

    • Faculty wishing to be considered for BOTH an At-Large seat and a college seat must self-nominate in BOTH elections. No more than three faculty from any department may serve on CAPC simultaneously and no more than two faculty from any department may hold College seats. At-Large elections will conclude prior to the College Seat elections. (Effective starting spring 2012).
    • Each department can have at most two representatives on CAPC.
    • The election is decided by a plurality of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rule or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Vacant seats will be filled one at a time with the current vacant seat filled by the candidate with the highest vote count. As each seat is filled, the candidate filling that seat and any other candidates from the same department as the candidate filling that seat will be disqualified. Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.
    • Members elected to at-large seats cannot be nominated for school representative seats.
    • Seats with longer terms will be filled first. In the case of an approve/disapprove ballot, candidates will be ranked according to number of approve votes.

Connie L. DiLucchio

Department: Early and Middle Grades Education

I previously served as the College of Education representative to CAPC from 2009-2013 and on the Graduate Programs and Policies Committee from 2010-2013. During those years, I came to appreciate the critical role CAPC plays in maintaining the quality of education our undergraduate and graduate students receive at WCU. CAPC’s commitment to the thoughtful development, revision, and recommendation of academic programs and polices has never been more important. It would be a privilege to represent the COE to contribute to this work. I believe my experience in various university, college and department leadership positions, including 9 years as a member of the Executive Board of the Graduate Council, will inform my active participation on CAPC.

John Elmore

Department: Professional and Secondary Education

In my nine years here at WCU I have represented faculty in many different ways - as a local and state union rep and as department chairperson. I believe deeply in the shared governance process - and believe that there is nothing more central to the faculty side of that governance process than maintaining control over the curriculum. CAPC is where that happens on our campus and I would appreciate the opportunity to represent my colleagues in the College of Education in that critical process.

Tara Guerriero

Department: Special Education

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education. Please consider me for a College of Education representative to CAPC. The curriculum that we teach is so important to our students and I would be very interested in being a part of CAPC because it helps to ensure that our curriculum is the best that it can be for our students. I began teaching at West Chester as an Adjunct Professor in 2006, and then began my Tenure-track position in 2008. I joined the Assessment & Accreditation Committee of the Council of Professional Education (CPE) in 2008 and have been the Chair/Co-Chair for the past four years. As part of this position, I have also served as a member on the CPE Executive Committee and an advisory member of CPE. One of the roles of CPE is to act as a recommending body to CAPC for curricular changes in the teacher education programs. I believe that my roles in these committees have helped me to gain a good understanding of the curricular process and policies for our teacher education programs. I would love to be a member of CAPC and be able to be a part of curricular development for our university, as a whole. Thank you for your consideration.

Diane Santori

Department: Literacy

I have completed my first term on CAPC and have learned a great deal about the committee and the university as a whole these past three years. I have served on the Academic Review subcommittee and enjoyed working with a group of dedicated professionals. I would very much like to continue my service on this important university-wide committee and represent the College of Education.
