Rules for the Election

    • Due to current composition of CAPC, this is open only to members of the Anthropology/Sociology and Psychology Departments.
    • Each department can have at most three representatives on CAPC.
    • The election is decided by a plurality of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rule or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Each ballot submitted counts as a cast vote.
    • Members elected to at-large seats cannot be nominated for department representative seats.

Richard Burns


Department: Computer Science

During my first five years at WCU, I have served on the Computer Science Department Graduate Committee, developed several new elective courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, participated in the ABET re-accreditation of our department and have submitted several course proposals to CAPC.

I fully realize the challenges and responsibilities of critically analyzing curricular issues at WCU, and look forward to serving and strengthening our department, college, and university.

Giovanni Casotti


Department: Biology

I am currently serving on CAPC on the Undergraduate Programs Committee and enjoy it very much. The work is challenging and very rewarding. Our work ensures the integrity of curricular are maintained within guidelines set forth by the university faculty.

I would ask for your vote to continue for another 3 year term.

Karen J Mitchell


Department: Psychology

I am a 3rd year TT faculty member with a deep interest in improving our already outstanding curriculum. I am currently serving a one year term on CAPC, representing the psychology department. I serve on the Gen Ed committee and am the chair of the subcommittee on interdisciplinary courses. I have learned much over this past year and that experience will certainly help as we move forward with the upcoming Gen Ed curriculum changes. I would appreciate your vote so I can continue to serve my department, college, and the wider university on this important committee.
