Rules for the Election

    • Each department can have at most two representatives on CAPC.
    • The election is decided by a plurality of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rule or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Vacant seats will be filled one at a time with the current vacant seat filled by the candidate with the highest vote count. As each seat is filled, the candidate filling that seat and any other candidates from the same department as the candidate filling that seat will be disqualified. Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.
    • Members elected to at-large seats cannot be nominated for school representative seats.
    • Seats with longer terms will be filled first. In the case of an approve/disapprove ballot, candidates will be ranked according to number of approve votes.

Department: Psychology

I have served on CAPC for two consecutive terms, most recently as the chair of the Writing Emphasis committee. I have enjoyed this service, and working closely with the other members of the General Education subcommittee. I look forward to continuing this service.

John Leveille

Department: Sociology and Anthropology

While this is my first year here at WCUPA, I have taught at several other universities prior to my arrive. This experience gives me a perspective that could be useful as a CAS Respresentative. I could draw upon my understandings of the operational workings of the various universities, and could apply these understandings to my decision making as your CAS Representative. I pledge to take the position seriously and to act in ways to advance the interests of the university and of the faculty.

Thank you,

John Leveille

Loretta Rieser-Danner

Department: Psychology

Students come to WCU with a wide variety of talents, skills, academic abilities, and strengths. I believe our curriculum and academic policies should reflect and address this variety in our attempt to prepare students for an ever-changing world. To this end, I believe that a variety of pedagogical approaches are useful as we help students meet both general and specific learning objectives. As a CAPC member during the past two years, I have enjoyed working with others interesed in curricular and policy issues and have learned a great deal about the many ways in which the WCU faculty serve the educational needs of our students. I would welcome the opportunity to continue to serve as a member of CAPC, hopefully contributing in a positive manner to curricular and policy development and, simultaneously, learning more about the variety of creative and effective pedagogical strategies implemented by our faculty.
