Rules for the Election

    • Faculty wishing to be considered for BOTH an At-Large seat and a college seat must self-nominate in BOTH elections. At-Large elections will conclude prior to the College Seat elections. (Effective starting spring 2012).
    • Each department can have at most two representatives on CAPC.
    • The election is decided by a plurality of those casting votes unless such results violate the previous rule or the number of candidates does not exceed the number of positions to fill. In the later case, each candidate will be voted on by an approve/disapprove ballot.
    • Vacant seats will be filled one at a time with the current vacant seat filled by the candidate with the highest vote count. As each seat is filled, the candidate filling that seat and any other candidates from the same department as the candidate filling that seat will be disqualified. Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.
    • Members elected to at-large seats cannot be nominated for school representative seats.
    • Seats with longer terms will be filled first. In the case of an approve/disapprove ballot, candidates will be ranked according to number of approve votes.

David Doorn

Department: Economics and Finance

I would welcome the opportunity to serve as one of the College of Business and Public Affairs representatives to CAPC. I am currently on the CBPA Undergraduate Program Committee and, although this is only my second year at West Chester University, I also have many years of additional service experience from my previous institution. This included service at all levels -- from the department and the school of business to campus-wide bodies.

Of my previous service activities, probably the one that best prepared me for CAPC would be my years on the Undergraduate Committee of the School of Business and Economics. This was essentially the school’s curriculum committee and served a similar role as that of CAPC. In my final year with the school I was vice-chair of that committee and was slated to take over the chairmanship had I remained there. At the university level I also served on several committees and task forces. These primarily dealt with changes to the University’s liberal education program, but also included a revamping of the University’s course evaluation procedures and forms. I was chair of the pedagogy subcommittee of the University’s Liberal Education Council in my last year there, as well.

If you would like more information on my experience and qualifications, please don’t hesitate to email me for my CV (ddoorn@wcupa.edu). Thank you for your consideration.

Department: Marketing

Hello everyone;

I respectfully ask for your support to serve another term as one of your representatives to CAPC. During my first term I served on both the Academic Review Committee and as the Chair of the Course Delivery Subcommittee.

As Chair of the Course Delivery Subcommittee I am responsible for working with faculty, chairs, Course Delivery Subcommittee members, the Academic Review Committee and the Distance Education Office in order to recommend new policies for our online and blended courses, and to facilitate the approval of blended (hybrid), online, and condensed format courses. In that position I have attempted to streamline the process as much as possible, and I have worked closely with different faculty groups in order to assist them in navigating the approval process.

Over the last three years I have accumulated a significant amount of institutional knowledge that I would like to continue to share with the University community.

Thank you, Brian

Department: Geography and Planning

Dear Friends and Colleagues

This past year I have served on CAPC as a proxy and the graduate executive council. I believe that I was assisting with some important work, such as the thesis standards subcommittee and graduate school path-back subcommittee. I have a great interest in the work of CAPC and would like to continue to work on important initiatives such as these and be of service to the university and my colleagues. Thank you for your consideration.
