Rules for the Election
Md AmiruzzamanDepartment: Computer Science I am seeking election as a CAPC At-Large Representative because I value shared governance and its role in strengthening our academic community. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at West Chester University, with an interdisciplinary background in Computer Science, Evaluation and Measurement, and Mathematics Education. I have served as a CAPC member since 2023, contributing to the General Education Committee, Writing Emphasis Sub-Committee, and currently the Graduate Committee. I have submitted several new proposals and policies, revised others, and reviewed numerous proposals, gaining meaningful insight into curriculum and academic policy. I would welcome the opportunity to continue serving, bringing a collaborative approach and a commitment to thoughtful, informed decision-making in support of our faculty and programs. Nicky CattanoDepartment: Sports Medicine I have seen WCU grow through many changes over the last 12 years on CAPC and over my 22 years as a faculty member in the Sports Medicine Department. I have served as an at-large representative for these past 3 years so that I could advocate for faculty across the University, drawing on my experience in graduate programs, academic review, research, and my former role as an IRB co-chair. I am hopeful to continue contributing to CAPC’s mission by having constructive conversations and asking critical questions that help shape WCU’s academic future within our subcommittee and larger assembly meetings. Thank you for your consideration for re-election to an at-large representative position. Leonard KellyDepartment: Theatre and Dance Having been a member of the faculty of the Dept. of Theatre and Dance for more than 30 years I have seen remarkable change and growth at WCU. The University has offered me so much in my tenure here in terms of both academic and professional opportunities, that it is my strong wish to give back in terms of service. I would be eager to make use of my many years of experience at the university to stir and strengthen The CAPC Mission. It would be my privilege to serve as Member-at-Large on CAPC where I would hope to advocate for the continued integration of creative research and the arts throughout the university community, as well as for both faculty and student concerns, as necessary and appropriate. Thank you for your support. Karen J MitchellDepartment: Psychology I have been an elected member of CAPC since 2016, serving on the General Education Committee. I have been the Gen Ed Chair since 2019. I am again running as a member-at-large so I can continue to support faculty across campus as we work together to continually enrich and improve our curriculum. Our students deserve the best we have to offer. I humbly request your vote.
