Cristobal Cardemil-Krause

Department: Interdisciplinary Studies

My commitment to Curricular development at WCU has been constant throughout the years. I have created several new courses, submitted others as Distance Education, have participated or am currently participating in the development of the Pathway certificate in Health Humanities, minors in Health Humanities and Spanish in Healthcare, and a BS in Spanish in Healthcare. I also participated in the workgroup that developed our Speaking Emphasis. I have served as the Director for the J requirement for the General Education Council for the last three academic years as well. I would be honored to continue my involvement in our university's educational mission. Thank you for your consideration.

Patricia Davidson

Department: Nutrition

My name is Patricia Davidson, and I am a Professor in the Nutrition Department. I have had the privilege to serve on CAPC first as an appointed proxy for a member unable to fulfill their term and currently as an At-large representative. In this role, I have been member of the Program Review subcommittee and the Academic Review Committee. I have served on the departmental Curriculum Committee, both the undergraduate and graduate programs, developing new courses, transitioning traditional courses to hybrid, and creating several online courses at the undergraduate level and for the Master of Science in Community Nutrition and chaired the initial accreditation process for Dietetic Internship program. Additionally, I have served as a member of CELT, the Provost-initiated University Writing Council, and as an instructor and team leader with the FYE initiative. These experiences have prepared me to serve on CAPC, heightened my awareness of the importance of quality educational programs and policies that support departmental accreditation standards, and to uphold our high educational standards.

I would like to continue my service on CAPC and uphold the high standards of the educational programs and policies at WCU. This opportunity would be an honor and I seek your vote for my candidacy as an elected member of CAPC (At-large representative).

Monica Joshi

Department: Chemistry

In the past few years, I have successfully navigated several CAPC applications for course and programmatic changes. I have also leveraged my experiences to guide other CAPC applicants within the Chemistry Department. I would now like to get a broader experience of factors that motivate curricular changes. Therefore, I nominate myself for the CAPC At-large Representative.

Sarah Lightner

Department: Literacy

I am interested in joining in the conversation about curriculum and academic policies as I believe in the importance of this committee and the ways that the committee's work impacts various stakeholders. Further, as a relatively new faculty member, I believe that participating on this committee would enable me to learn more about the curricular processes that are important to our university. As a result, I believe that my participation on this committee would benefit my students and my department.

Jacqueline Van Schooneveld

Department: Early and Middle Grades

For the past eight years I have been able to serve as the curriculum and assessment coordinator for the Department of Early and Middle Grades. Through that experience, I have been able to collaborate with faculty on constructing courses and new programs, that have gone through the CAPC review. I would be honored to serve on CAPC to help support programs as they go through that process.

Elizabeth Staruch

Department: Theatre and Dance

My name is Liz Staruch and I am faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance. During my time on CAPC, I have been a member of the Undergraduate Policies committee, the Academic Review committee, and chaired or co-chaired the Program Review committee. On behalf of my department, I co-chaired Theatre and Dance’s reaccreditation process, and assisted in the overhaul of our department curriculum to bring the BA Theatre program in line with the Board of Governor’s 2012 mandate. I am also past co-chair of the CAH Faculty Advisory committee, acting to support the CAH re-organization in part by drafting new mission and vision statements for the college. All of these experiences serve as inspiration to deepen my commitment of service to the university in terms of faculty support and curricular issues. I would be honored to serve on CAPC and would appreciate your vote.

John Taylor

Department: Nursing

I am honored to request your consideration for an at-large seat on CAPC. As a previous CAPC member representing the Department of Nursing, I was active on the Undergraduate Programs/Policies, General Education, and Academic Review Committees. During my previous CAPC service, I gained valuable experience navigating the curriculum development process with the roll out of the new General Education program. I have also successfully proposed and revised several courses with various curriculum designations (Writing Emphasis, Distance Education, Diversity, etc). This experience has resulted in my ability to serve as a resource for my colleagues in my department and across campus as they make course proposals and revisions. I hope you will consider me for an at-large seat in the CAPC General Assembly.

Juliet Wunsch

Department: Theatre and Dance

I am a member of the Department of Theatre and Dance, and would be honored to have your support to continue service to CAPC.

I have served as a member of CAPC since 2010: serving on both the Undergraduate Policies Committee as well as the General Education Committee (Speaking Emphasis and Distributive Area focus). It is both humbling and eye opening to provide support for faculty who work so hard to bring quality programs and classes to our student body. I am constantly invigorated by the creativity and passion of our peers.

I have a strong interest in understanding student learning. I recognize the unique needs of Colleges, Departments and Co-Curricular venues. I am a firm believer that the assessment of general education must support the diverse skillsets already in play by faculty.

I would greatly appreciate your continued support.
