    • The Departments of Biology, Nutrition, and Theater and Dance currently had 3 representative serving next year. According to CAPC By-laws, no faculty member from the Departments of Biology, Nutrition, or Theater and Dance may run for one of the seats in this election.

Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each ballot submitted counts as a cast vote.

    • Seats with longer terms will be filled first. In the case of an approve/disapprove ballot, candidates will be ranked according to number of approve votes.

Nancy Barker

Department: Nursing

I am a full time assistant professor in the nursing department. I currently serve as the chair of the department's curriculum committee and I have been involved in First Year Experience as a faculty leader. Serving as a faculty leader has allowed me to get a broader view of the curriculum at West Chester and to see the many ways faculty promote student success. I have an Ed.D and believe I would be a great fit for the open seat on CAPC. I have been at West Chester for the last four years and would like to become more involved in the curricular aspect of the University.

Megan Corbin

Department: Languages and Cultures

I am running for CAPC At-large Representative having already served on the Curriculum Committee of my home department for the last four years, reviewing proposals for adherence to CAPC guidelines and supporting my colleagues in the development of new courses, as well as modifications to and re-certification of existing courses. As a CAPC At-large Representative, I hope to offer the same support to my colleagues across the university. Please consider allowing me to serve you and our students in this capacity!

Courtney Lloyd

Department: Exploratory Studies

Hello! I have served on the distributive areas sub-committee over the past year, and I am interested in serving on this committee in a larger capacity. As a non-classroom faculty member, and a full-time academic advisor, I have a full understanding on the academic requirements needed for each major and how changes to curriculum can make an impact on current or future students.

Lisa Marano

Department: Mathematics

As Co-Director of FYE, a member of the University Writing Council Advisory Board, a member of the General Education Council, and the Program Director for the Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance programs, I worked with CAPC on an as-needed basis for over 15 years. I ushered in new programs through CAPC and eventually the BoG and brought forth *many* program changes for my home department, and I helped to develop best practices and guidelines on a variety of general education issues over the past few years through my involvement on the writing council, FYE, and the newly formed General Education Council. I believe these varied experiences afford me a unique lens from which to review and help craft our future curriculum and academic policies.

Dr. Gerardina L. Martin

Department: Honors College

Thank you for the opportunity to present my services to the Curriculum and Academic Policies Council. Having worked for West Chester University for over 20 years as the Learning Assistance and Resource Center Director, Academic Development Program Tutor Coordinator (now the ASP), and Honors College faculty and Assistant Director, I have a uniquely holistic perspective I would like to share as a resource on CAPC.

I have gone through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education volunteer training, and was a member of the University's Assessment Committee for many years. Recently, I have helped to complete program reviews for both the LARC and the Honors College, and I have worked on syllabus revisions for my department, providing me the opportunity to work with the CIM system. I would greatly like to serve the University as an At-Large member of CAPC, and I look forward to serving the University in this position.

Joseph W. Moser

Department: Languages and Cultures

Dear Colleagues, my name is Joseph W. Moser and I am an Associate Professor of German in the Department of Languages and Cultures. I would be honored to serve the university on CAPC as a Member-at-Large. I had the privilege of serving on CAPC and UGPC and as the Chair on the UGPC Subcommittee on Culture Cluster courses in 2018-19, as a year-long proxy for Dr. Mahmoud Amer. I have been serving as a member of the Department of Languages and Cultures Curriculum Committee since fall 2016, and I have been active in developing the German Program in the Department of Languages and Cultures through the creation of new courses as well as proposing and teaching new online course offerings. I would be honored to contribute my experiences to CAPC as a Member-at-Large. Thank you for your consideration.

Justin Rademaekers

Department: English

It has been a labor of love to serve on CAPC as a three-year at-large proxy since 2017. My service on CAPC as a member of the General Education committee and as Chair of the Writing-Emphasis subcommittee has been highly informative to my concurrent service as the university's current Writing Across the Curriculum Director. Service on CAPC has helped me identify ways to better support faculty as they teach writing-emphasis courses, and has also helped me identify new opportunities to strengthen our writing-emphasis curriculum. I would be grateful for your vote so I may continue this work.

Timothy Starn

Department: Chemistry

Early in my WCU career, a colleague once commented, at a time when our department was faced with a set of particularly difficult curricular decisions, the path to resolution had to be the choice that was in the best interests of our students. These words of wisdom have been my guide, ever since. As such, I am motivated to serve on CAPC, if you will have me, where I will be a strong advocate for students, particularly on issues involving retention and student success.

Kate Stewart

Department: Art + Design

In my 14 years at WCU I have made significant contributions to curricular and program development within the Department of Art + Design, in accordance with our national accreditation organization NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design). I have a vested interest in cross disciplinary pedagogy and experiential learning, reflected in the various collaborative community projects I’ve overseen, through the Study Abroad programs I’ve led and most recently, in the Campus Pigment Garden I designed outside of the E.O. Bull Center for the Arts.

I would be honored to receive your vote to serve as an At-Large Representative on CAPC, and I would work hard to support academic and curricular programs that provide opportunities for the entire WCU community.
