Rules for the Election
Laurie BernotskyDepartment: Political Science I have been serving as member of CAPC for the past several years. During this time I have chaired the Diverse Communities Committee, the General Education Committee, and I currently serve as the CAPC Chair. The work CAPC does is essential to the university and I am committed to this aspect of shared governance at WCU. I believe my experience will be valuable for the work that lies ahead, so I would like to continue to serve on this committee. I would welcome your support as I seek another term. Mary BrewsterDepartment: Criminal Justice In the past, I have served several terms on CAPC in various roles including SBPA representative, at-large representative, Chairperson of the General Education Committee, and Vice Chairperson of CAPC. After taking a brief respite from the committee to pursue research endeavors, I hope to now have the opportunity to serve again on this important committee. Susan GansDepartment: Psychology I have served two consecutive terms on CAPC, most recently as the chair of the Writing Emphasis committee. I have worked closely with members of the General Education subcommittee, and I look forward to being able to continue this service. Judith GreenamyerDepartment: Biology I have served on CAPC for several years, and would like to continue to help work out the numerous problems that arise as Harrisburg and the BOG become more and more intrusive in our curriculum. In addition to CAPC experience, I bring my experience as a graduate coordinator, department assistant chair, and former department chair, to this position. Sandra GrossDepartment: Health For the past two years I have served on CAPC and have enjoyed contributing to the committee’s energy, productivity, and policy development. Throughout my tenure at WCU, I have been involved in program development, course/curriculum evaluations and revisions, and policy development both at the department and university levels. I would welcome the opportunity to serve another term and ask for your support. Jan LaceyDepartment: Department of Health Throughout my first several years at WCU, I have enjoyed the exciting challenge of continually re-evaluating and reconfiguring our program’s curriculum to best suit the needs of our students, while working within the university’s well developed policies. I would now like to branch out into the wider university community and participate in the development and evaluation of policies that affect all programs. Having additional work experience at another college and a teaching hospital, I hope to share some interesting perspectives and contribute to this highly effective committee. Rodney MaderDepartment: English I have served on CAPC for the past two years. During that time, I have served on the General Education Committee and chaired the subcommittee for Diverse Communities Courses. I would like the opportunity to continue doing so because the work is stimulating and important, and because programmatic continuity is beneficial. I promise to work hard and be friendly. We are fortunate to have such a strong system of faculty governance at WCU, and I would consider it an honor to serve as an At-Large Representative. Vicki McGinleyDepartment: Early Childhood and Special Education Since my tenure at WCU I have had the opportunity to be involved in extensive curriculum revision at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have found this to be exciting work. More recently, I have been involved in the development of a new certificate program. I would like to apply what I have learned to service on this important university committee. I have served on a number of other university committees such as Faculty Development and Tenure, Evaluation and Promotion and have valued my interaction and collaboration with colleagues from across the university. I would look forward and be honored to serve. Catherine PrudhoeDepartment: Early Childhood & Special Education I have been a member of CAPC for several years and am currently serving as the Vice Chair. I believe that curriculum and academic policy decisions are the purview of the faculty and that we have a responsibility to discuss issues openly and respectfully. I am asking for your support Loretta Rieser-DannerDepartment: Psychology Students come to WCU with a wide variety of talents, skills, academic abilities, and strengths. I believe our curriculum and academic policies should reflect and address this variety in our attempt to prepare students for an ever-changing world. To this end, I believe that a variety of pedagogical approaches are useful as we help students meet both general and specific learning objectives. As a CAPC member during the past two years, I have enjoyed working with others interesed in curricular and policy issues and have learned a great deal about the many ways in which the WCU faculty serve the educational needs of our students. I would welcome the opportunity to continue to serve as a member of CAPC, hopefully contributing in a positive manner to curricular and policy development and, simultaneously, learning more about the variety of creative and effective pedagogical strategies implemented by our faculty. Walton Craig StevensDepartment: Kinesiology It had been my pleasure to serve the College of Health Sciences and the University as a CAPC rep for six years. I enjoyed working with my colleagues as we dealt with issues of general education and converting academic programs to the mandated 120-credit. After a few year hiatus, I find I again have the time to serve and fulfill the responsibilities required of a CAPC member. I look forward to the opportunity to again be of service to the West Chester Universtiy community. Created and copyrighted by Clifford Johnston, 2000-12 |
