Votes cast for disqualified candidates, as just defined, will not be considered in filling remaining vacant seats.
    • Each candidate selected counts as a cast vote.
    • Members elected to at-large seats cannot be nominated for school representative seats.
    • Seats with longer terms will be filled first. In the case of an approve/disapprove ballot, candidates will be ranked according to number of approve votes.

Jay Berkowitz

Department: Theatre Arts

I am finishing my first full term as a CAPC at-large representative. I believe that the experience has given me a foundation for reasoned contributions if reelected. My work, over the years and across the university helps fill, to me, a major requirement for at-large election.

Deanne Z. Bonifazi

Department: Psychology

I have served on CAPC for the past two years and hope to be re-elected so that I can continue to serve on this very important committee. I am deeply committed to maintaining/improving the quality of education at WCU. I believe I have a good understanding of concerns held by many faculty members as well as concerns of students. As the Graduate Coordinator for Psychology, I am particularly sensitive to issues central to graduate education. Serving on CAPC for a second term will allow me to continue providing input on curriculum and university policies.

Patricia C. Broderick

Department: Counseling and Educational Psychology

As a former member of the Faculty Senate and University Forum and as Graduate Coordinator of School Counseling programs for the past four years, I have had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with others in moving toward the goals of curriculum improvement and enhancement of student learning. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue these efforts as a member of CAPC.

Neil Curtis

Department: Sports Medicine

I am completing my first term as a CAPC member. I look forward to continuing to serve WCU and the School of Health Sciences as a representative on CAPC. I believe my CAPC experience along with my experience as a department chair the last five years have provided me with insight and perspective to be a productive member of this essential committee.

Kevin W. Dean

Department: Communication Studies

I would welcome your support as I seek thrid term on CAPC. During my time with the group I have served on both the undergaduate programs and general educaiton committees, held two terms as recording secretary and this past year it has been a pleasure serving as the Chair of the general assembly. With the assistance of an outstanding Execuitive Board and the diligent work from many CAPC members we have made great progress this year as we prepare for the implementation of the new general education program in the fall. We have also made positive strides in refining our by-laws to enhance our efficiency and inclusiveness as we deal with critical curricular and policy issues. I am also particularly proud of the newly initiated Best Practices and Pedagogy Awards which enable CAPC to be proactive in its recognition of quality education.

Timothy Lutz

Department: Geology & Astronomy

During my first two-year term on CAPC I have been a member of the Academic Program Review Committee, which has been evaluating low-enrollment programs and helping to develop the R2 (review and reapproval) process. Assessing programs and curriculum-- attempting to determine whether they are performing as we intend-- is important for the University at several levels. If re-elected I look forward to representing the faculty on this committee and in the CAPC Assembly.

Mary Ann Maggitti

Department: Early Childhood and Special Ed

The development and revision of curriculum and academic policies are essential functions in maintaining the quality and vitality of the university. The complex and sometimes competing demands of our disciplines, our university and system, and our students need to be weighed as we continually reshape our programs. As a member of CAPC I hope to use my varied experiences in curriculum development and my ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to these processes in a thoughtful and responsive way.

Lesley A. Welsh

Department: Professional/Secondary Ed.

Serving on CAPC, which is a critically important university committee, would be a privilege. As a 10-year member of the Professional and Secondary Education department and with my experience as an assessment coordinator I would bring my unique skills, perspectives and enthusiasm to the position. I would value an opportunity to serve on this committee.

Paul R Wolfson

Department: Mathematics

During my four years' service, CAPC has considered a number of important curricular issues, including revision of the General Education requirements. Although the new requirements are far from perfect, I think that our extensive discussion made many improvements. I would like to continue to work to maintain or imporve the quality of our courses and programs. I therefore solicit your vote.
