Chris Stangl

Department: Political Science

I would be honored and proud to serve as APSCUF Vice-President. I have been active in APSCUF for the entirety of my 15 years at WCU, including four years as Legislative Chair, four years as Grievance Chair, and numerous terms as a state delegate. Based on my statewide experience, there are two core observations that would guide me if elected: 1) relations with management at WCU are comparatively very good, and 2) a strong union is a necessity.

The amount of change that has occurred the last few years—on campus and statewide—has been immense. Much uncertainty awaits. I believe that I possess vital experience and an ability to contingency plan, each of which will be valuable in aiding the incoming president. Of particular importance will be maintaining clear communication and respectful relations with Management through the Meet & Discuss process and additional shared governance efforts.
