John Elmore

Department: Professional & Secondary Education

I am requesting your support in my election to the office of APSCUF local Vice-President. I have been a consistently active member of APSCUF throughout my nine years here at WCU, first as a department representative and then as a state delegate. As a faculty member in the foundations of education I have had the unique circumstance in which my profession has also been a centerpiece of my research agenda. I have not only been an outspoken advocate for faculty rights and a critic of corporate reforms on our campus, but also in academic venues and publications across the country and around the world. Unfortunately, my experience in APSCUF as well as my research on national and international trends in higher education have convinced me that the mission of our union is perhaps more critically important now than it has ever been before. I would like to do my part to strengthen our union and help to build solidarity across colleges, departments, and the wide-range of disciplines they represent.

John Elmore, Professor
